OnlineSafety

The internet hosts many exciting opportunities for education. The online world is a wonderful place for young people to explore, with unprecedented opportunities for learning and creativity, but just like the real world there are risks and dangers they should be aware of and which we should all act to protect them from.

At Millfields we encourage the use of technology as an important part of our pupils’ development but always want them to spend their time online safely. In school we have an internet safety code of conduct that all pupils and staff are expected to adhere too. We have strong and constantly updated filters in place to protect and govern internet use.

Every term we have an Internet Safety Day, including supporting the national Safer Internet Day that takes place every February.

All our staff and pupils sign our annual Acceptable Use Policy.

Our pupils often use the internet as part of their learning, and have regular lessons on e-safety to help them know how to keep safe online. Pupils in school are always supervised when using the internet. We realise that this close supervision of internet use is much harder to do at home, so here are some useful sites and guides to help
